How to Create a Typewriter Text Animation with AI

4 min read

I used to animate typewriter text in Adobe After Effects one letter at a time. Getting the cursor to blink at the end, and the speed to feel like real typing, took the better part of an hour. You can now generate that same typewriter effect with AI motion graphics tools.

How to Create a Typewriter Text Animation with Easymotion

With Easymotion, you can skip the timeline entirely. You do not have to keyframe the letters or the cursor. Here is exactly how to generate your typewriter text.

1Open the Studio

First, navigate to Easymotion in your web browser and click the "Start Creating" button. You will be prompted to log in or sign up for a free account. Once logged in, you will enter the main studio interface.

2Enter Your Prompt

You have two options to create your typewriter text animation. You can browse the template library to find a pre-made typewriter style, or you can describe what you want in the prompt box. For example, type: "Create a typewriter text animation on a cream background in a dark typewriter font. Type the line The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, one letter at a time, with a blinking cursor at the end."

The line The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog types out letter by letter on a cream background.

Tip

To type in your brand font every time, save it in a Brand Kit and pick the kit before you send the prompt.

3Customize Using AI Chat

Once your base animation generates, you can adjust the details using the AI chat panel located on the left side of the screen. Just type commands directly into the chat. For example, type: "Switch to a clean black font on a white background with a blue cursor. Type Sample text goes here, then select it with a blue highlight and show a Copy and Paste bubble above it." The system updates your video automatically.

Sample text goes here types out in a clean font, then gets selected with a blue highlight and a Copy and Paste bubble.

4Export Your Animation

When you are happy with the result, click the Export button in the top right corner and select the MP4 format for a standard video file. To overlay this typing text onto another video, make the background transparent first: ask the chat for a transparent background, or press the checkerboard button on the background color in Quick Edit. When the preview shows a checkerboard, export in the MOV format and drop the file into Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

Copy-Paste Prompts for Your Animation

Paste one into the prompt box in Easymotion, then change the details to fit your video.

Prompt 1: Classic Typewriter

Create a typewriter text animation on a cream background in a dark typewriter font. Type the line The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, one letter at a time, with a blinking cursor at the end.

Prompt 2: Dark Typewriter

Create a typewriter text animation on a black background in a white typewriter font. Type the line The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, one letter at a time, with a blinking cursor at the end.

Prompt 3: Vertical Typewriter

Create a vertical 9:16 typewriter text animation on a cream background in a dark typewriter font. Type the line The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, one letter at a time, with a blinking cursor at the end.

Adobe After Effects vs AI Motion Graphics

Typewriter text used to mean revealing one letter per keyframe and timing a blinking cursor by hand. Here is how that work compares to Easymotion in 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Under 60 seconds. You type the line and the look you want, and Easymotion types it out letter by letter with a cursor.

No, you do not need Adobe After Effects or any design skills. You describe the text in a prompt, then change the words or the font in the AI chat on the left.

Yes. Ask the chat to type faster or slower, or to pause after a word. The cursor keeps blinking at the end of the line.

Yes. Give the full text in the prompt, and the words wrap onto new lines as they type.

Use a MOV file with a transparent background. Ask the chat for a transparent background, or set the background color to transparent in Quick Edit, until the preview shows a checkerboard. Then export MOV and place it over your footage in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Use MP4 for a normal video file.
