How to Create a Text Match Cut Animation with AI

5 min read

I used to spend most of an evening in Adobe After Effects on one ten-second text match cut. Every cut needed a new layout around the line, and the highlighted words had to sit on the exact same pixels each time. You can now generate that same match cut with AI motion graphics tools.

How to Create a Text Match Cut Animation with Easymotion

With Easymotion, you can skip the timeline entirely. You do not have to line up the words frame by frame. Here is exactly how to generate your match cut.

1Open the Studio

First, navigate to Easymotion in your web browser and click the "Start Creating" button. You will be prompted to log in or sign up for a free account. Once logged in, you will enter the main studio interface.

2Enter Your Prompt

You have two options to create your text match cut animation. You can browse the template library to find a pre-made match cut style, or you can describe what you want in the prompt box. For example, type: "Create a text match cut on a dark YouTube comment section. Keep the comment Have you guys checked out this new AI tool? highlighted in yellow in the same spot, and cut fast between different usernames and the comments around it."

The highlighted comment Have you guys checked out this new AI tool? stays in place while the YouTube comments around it change.

Tip

Have a match cut you want to copy? Click the paperclip, choose Add Video Reference, and attach a short clip of it. Easymotion follows its timing and style.

3Customize Using AI Chat

Once your base animation generates, you can adjust the details using the AI chat panel located on the left side of the screen. Just type commands directly into the chat. For example, type: "Make it vertical 9:16 on white paper. Keep Social media highlighted in yellow in the same spot while the page around it cuts between book pages, code, a system warning, a recipe, and bold headlines, then end on DELETE SOCIAL MEDIA." The system updates your video automatically.

4Export Your Animation

When you are happy with the result, click the Export button in the top right corner and select the MP4 format for a standard video file. To overlay this match cut onto another video, make the background transparent first: ask the chat for a transparent background, or press the checkerboard button on the background color in Quick Edit. When the preview shows a checkerboard, export in the MOV format and drop the file into Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

Copy-Paste Prompts for Your Animation

Paste one into the prompt box in Easymotion, then change the details to fit your video.

Adobe After Effects vs AI Motion Graphics

A text match cut used to mean rebuilding the layout for every cut and lining up one line of text by hand. Here is how that work compares to Easymotion in 2026.
